DDC Testimony at the Council of DC Roundtable on the DDA Health Initiative

The DC Developmental Disabilities Council (DDC) weighed in on the Department of Disability Services' (DDS) decision to end its contract with the Georgetown University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities for the Developmental Disabilities Adminsitration (DDA) Health Initiative. In short, the DDC advocates for more communication and engagement with the people directly affected by this change and believes DDS has not allowed for enough time to appropriately transition services and supports associated with the DDA Health Initiative.

The DC Developmental Disabilities Council (DDC) is authorized and guided by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000. This federal law says that we must create a strategic plan every five years and gather feedback on that plan regularly so that we can evaluate how well we are meeting community needs.
